Pittsburgh Neighborhoods
I love Pittsburgh. That’s why I planted my roots here years ago so I could attend the Art Institute and get to know all its many colorful, fun, and cultural areas. I’ve explored this wonderful city from the tree-lined streets of Squirrel Hill to the heights of Mount Washington; practiced “plein air” sketching in Market Square and the streets of Oakland; and been cheered by my fellow Pittsburghers as I ran through these same neighborhoods for the Pittsburgh Marathon.
Upon looking at “Pittsburgh Neighborhoods,” a friend said, “It looks like a patchwork quilt.” I hadn’t thought of it that way, but isn’t that the truth of it? We are a unique patchwork of people and cultures and ethnicities that somehow works together to create a warm and beautiful blanket we live under on a partly cloudy day. “Pittsburgh Neighborhoods” originated from my love of the city, its people, and its energy. It is my tribute to this place where we live, laugh, work, and play.
It is my tribute to this place we call home.
